House Droizy - 5 bedrooms - 950m²
DESCRIPTION
An hour from Paris and Charles de Gaulle Airport, 45 minutes from Reims and just 15 minutes from Soissons.
Eight centuries of history
Built in the early years of the 12th century on the initiative of Robert de Droizy, the keep was raised in height in the 14th century. Today it stands 22 metres tall and overlooks the Soissonnais plateau, offering a striking panorama over the surrounding villages, farmland and woodland. Sections of ramparts built in the 14th and 15th centuries still surround it.
The 15th century marks one of the great moments in its history. In 1436, Étienne de Vignolles, known as La Hire, loyal lieutenant of Joan of Arc and the inspiration for the Knave of Hearts, became lord of the estate by marrying Marguerite David. After his death, his widow remarried in 1444 to Jean de Courtenay, himself a descendant of Louis VI “the Fat”.
Fully restored, the whole property is today in a remarkable state of preservation.
