Ref. 4567: Superb 18th-century château, listed as a Historic Monument, set within its 42-hectare estate in the Vendée.

The château is located between Nantes, La Roche-sur-Yon and Cholet, in the Haut Bocage Vendéen.

The Haut Bocage Vendéen is characterised by a landscape of hills, also known as ‘puys’—notably the Puy du Fou—and valleys, with alternating panoramic views and valley scenery. This is one of the most picturesque areas of the Vendée.

This landscape of rolling hills is also an important farming region, with extensive forests, numerous chestnut groves and mixed farming.

The region enjoys considerable economic dynamism, with a strong industrial base and entrepreneurial culture. It is also a place deeply attached to its history, values and traditions.

A long railing encloses the estate to the south of the château. An ornate wrought-iron gate opens onto a courtyard framed by the château’s broad façade and its two pavilions.

Arranged in a classical style, the principal façade has seven bays of tall windows across two storeys. The château has four levels in total: cellars, a ground floor, a first floor and spacious attics. The tall, perfectly symmetrical slate roof above the main residence is adorned with a central dormer and four smaller dormers in the Capucine style.

The two side pavilions have two storeys beneath tiled roofs.

The façade of the main residence features a horseshoe staircase leading to a raised terrace and the front door.

On the ground floor, the front door opens into a spacious hall. A broad staircase begins to the right.

The hall also leads to the right into a long gallery, with access to a 33 m² study and two further studies in the right-hand pavilion.

Opposite the entrance, a fine double door opens into a 54 m² drawing room, adjoining a library with a mezzanine and walls entirely lined with wood panelling.

To the left of the hall, another double door opens into the 67 m² grand salon.

The dining room and kitchen are in the left-hand pavilion.

The north façade of the château looks out onto a terrace whose stone balustrades overlook the lake.

The first floor has seven bedrooms, each with a bathroom or shower room, as well as two rooms used as studies.

The château offers approximately 900 m² of living space, with beautiful period features and decoration, including herringbone parquet with marquetry, wood panelling, carved doors topped with pediments, carved mouldings, ceiling roses and more.

Numerous outbuildings, including:

‘La Bergerie’: a recently renovated annexe with a sitting room, living/dining room, kitchen and principal suite on the ground floor, and three bedrooms upstairs

Swimming pool

Arranged around a courtyard:

A beautiful, perfectly maintained park provides a wonderful setting for the château, where the only sound is birdsong.

There are many centuries-old trees to admire. Peaceful animals belonging to the estate graze undisturbed: Ouessant sheep, two donkeys and ponies.

A superb lake at the foot of the château offers sublime views. It is home to white and black swans, ducks and herons.

Another lake is nearby.

A former racecourse is located close to the château.
